20 Years with Claudia

Next Tuesday it’ll be 20 years since the day I met Claudia for the first time.

We met at the birthday party of Laura, a longtime friend of mine, and Claudia ended up there because she was the quintessential friend of a friend of a friend who gets invited to a party. We met, we talked, we danced. Two weeks later we went out on a date, and, well. To make a long story short, one year and half later we got married.

Fun fact: we spent our wedding night in Zermatt, a place we returned to 11 years later to attend a yarn festival we immortalized in a video.

Speaking about travel, we have seen quite a bit of the world together; Bolivia (of course), Argentina (of course), Switzerland (of course), Lisboa, Colonia del Sacramento, Dubai, Durban, Reykjavík, New York, Pérouges, Madrid, Göteborg, Salar de Uyuni, Milano, Paris, New Haven, San Salvador de Jujuy, San Francisco, Boston, Torino, Colmar, Laax, Newport (Rhode Island), Peñíscola, Monaco, Lago Titicaca, Σκιάθος, London, Les Deux Alpes, Poschiavo, Roma, Leicester, Liverpool, Ρόδος, Saint-Tropez…

We’ve been through high and lows, happy and sad, ups and downs. Some family members are long gone, and some other new ones were born in the meantime. And for the past 13 years, our lovely furry cat Max has been a big part of our lives.

It’s hard to put in words so many memories. I have the feeling we met yesterday, and at the same time, I feel like we knew each other since… I don’t know, since always. She’s shown me what forgiveness looks like. She’s also shown me that I can be my worst enemy.

As Simply Red used to say,

I don’t believe in many things, but in you,
I do.

Te amo, preciosita.
